CC2 PvP

Tricky's

For 2024 most of our CC2 PvP events were kindly hosted by Tricky's. This has given us a well managed and well attended regular PvP scene with signups and scheduling and has allowed us to select a curated list of mods for the game that augment the PvP experience.

Games are regular with spaces for up to 24 players and planned for Saturday (2000 or 2100 UTC) and are usually every weekend with occasional gaps.

Mods

The mods we have selected have been chosen for a good, balanced PvP experience where skilled and new players have a good chance at success.

The most significant mod changes are from.

  • Revolution 1.4
    • Revolution is an extension on top of the UI Enhancer mod that gives us
      • Fog of war - You only see who controls an island when you are near
      • PvP Barge cap - Players can now no longer spawn vast numbers of cheap barges, this used to cause lots of lag and was considered against the rules
      • Albatross AWACS - AWACS mounted on the Albatross instead of Manta
      • Needlefish RADAR - Needlefish can see targets themselves, vanilla game they could not.
      • Rebalanced Manta - Manta can carry fewer bombs/missiles, this has meant we actually see more air combat and dog fights, previously “Full loadout” games would see a fast team take out a carrier using Mantas in minutes, with very little enjoyable gameplay variety
  • Turbo Barges
    • Barges travel MUCH faster (maybe too fast) speeding up logistics operations
  • 2x Water Speed
    • Ground units in water now travel twice as fast as the vanilla game, this does not feel un-natrual in game but you will notice the slowness without this mod
